Do it Yourself!

I'm afraid this is the first in a long line of wedding related posts! Less than three months to the big day and I find it hard to concentrate on anything else... I miss sewing. But very soon I will have to make three bridesmaids dresses and my own white gown, so then you will be reading posts longing for the planning stages gone by.

This week I've been looking for decorations to go on the tables where our eighty guests will be seated for dinner. We want to keep things simple, classic and cost effective. I've been reading a lot of wedding blogs myself and saw examples of frosting vases in colours or theme of the day, so I thought I would try that but with a handmade twist. We collected a bunch of vintage glass jars from the Salvation Army and our parents basements, purchased some frosting spray from Bunnings and got to work. We want to have candles sitting in the frosted jars, clustered in the centre of the tables in a relaxed manner and have red rose petals scattered around them. This is how they turned out - Frosted versus clear.

I also thought it would look good to mask the jars with some classic wedding shapes (a heart, circles etc) then frost them and remove the masking tape so you could see the candles, and it would be a bit of extra detail. The problem is: now we can't decide what we like better! What do you think?
